Well, you have come to the right place. We can help you make the first steps into your career as a teen model.
We have put together the following guide to help you take the first steps into this fun and exciting career choice.
Firstly, let’s start with the requirements:
The right age range for teen models is between twelve and seventeen. If you (or your son or daughter) are younger than this, then you will be classed as a “child model”. If you are older, then you will be considered an “adult model”.
Before approaching a modelling agency, it is very important that you get your parent’s approval to go-ahead. You need to have supportive parents as you will need to take your parents with you to shoots and to help you along the way with help, guidance, and security.
Teen models are used to advertise products and services, from the latest fashion trends to promotional educational material.
Teen models may appear in magazines or on websites, in advertising campaigns, on billboards and in TV commercials. Basically, the opportunities are huge. If a teenager will buy the product or service, then agencies will need to find teen models who can help show it off!
For many aspiring models, teen modelling is a really good way to try out modelling on a smaller scale before going for it as a full-time career.
Teen modelling can be a lot of fun, as well as building up confidence and gaining experience in the world of work.
Agencies understand that your education comes first. However, modelling is also seen as a very good way for young people to build confidence and experience of the working world – which is also very important!
If you (or your son or daughter) is interested in pursuing a career as a model, it will always be on a part-time basis whilst you are of school age. By doing this you can still get a good feel of what it is like to be a model without missing out on that all-important education.
It isn’t just about looks, trust us. As a teen model, you need to have a strong and confident personality and be determined even if there are a few knock-backs along the way. You need to be able to take direction, be versatile, and be able to let your individual personality shine through. Most of all, you really need to enjoy being in front of a camera.
To be a successful teen model, an outgoing personality and a determined hard-working attitude are important. It is important to have body-confidence (which doesn’t mean being thin! It means loving the skin that you are in) and be able to take direction from professionals.
Most importantly though, it is about enjoying your work and having a good time doing it. That is what it is all about. If you can say that, then you will have true success as a teenage model.
At Model Central, we give teenagers the opportunity to find out if they show model potential.
If you are offered one of our professional model assessment shoots, you will have the opportunity to work with our in-house creative team to get the chance to experience being a model in a real fashion shoot.
This will allow us to assess your potential and is an opportunity for you to find out if modelling is something that you really enjoy. It can also give you an opportunity for you to create and build your very own professional model portfolio and take on our support until you are working in the industry.
